Hello to you all this fine evening. Mel has been helping me revamp the website today and it has been a tedious process. I realized that one of my favorite senior sessions wasn’t on the website yet, so in addition to putting them up, I am sharing them again. There might be a few here that I didn’t post before, but I wanted them on the new blog too, they are just that cool.
My biggest inspiration for high school senior sessions (for the girls anyway) is the Free People catalogue. Such cool lifestyle stuff! I love finding a cool place around Hillsboro or Portland that is rustic and has personality. I have even gone to Hood River and left Oregon for Washington to get some really fun photographs.
On another note, I just changed my portrait prices…again. I am the happiest I have ever been with them, though! So, the session and travel for the first half hour and 5×7 proofs of 60-80 images is 580 and then there is a list of a bunch of add-ons you can do. The proofs are really great quality, though, so you could use them on your wall. Also, the online ordering hasn’t been fabulous for a lot of people, so you can actually use the proofs to order because the file name is on the back of them. If you wanted to get proofs and that’s it, that is totally cool too.
Some of you may be thinking, “Why would Missy print proofs in this digital age?” I will tell you, it’s because the way I photograph in any situation has a very lifestyle feel. The story never feels complete when people order a few image for the wall and I worry that all the other cool pics will feel left out. One of the biggest complaints that I get from clients is that there are too many good ones to choose from. They are just to hard to narrow down and make an order. Wouldn’t it be nice if you got all of them from the get go? Then any other items you order would be icing on the cake.

We were so blessed to have sun yesterday! These pics wouldn’t been so cool without the sun. I drove around downtown hillsboro to see if I could find some cool stuff and I sure did. Isn’t Angelique a sweet model?

This is one of my favorites

Super cute smile!

Another travel session, can you believe these pictures were taken at her home in Washington? Biance lives on a farm and her mom kept making disclaimers about it’s appearance. I assured her it was perfect and it was! The field was across the street from her house and the old barn was in the field. Everything was just perfect.

I always love it when I get to travel for a session because there are always new fun things to try. I got to go to Daniells apple orchard home in Hood River last week and the weather was beautiful! Here are some of my favorite images.

Riley and I had a great time downtown taking his senior pics. His awesome mom chauffeured us around and had all the outfits and the dog handy, it was great! We got a ton of variety with different expressions in each situation. By the end of the shoot, Riley was a natural varying each pose just enough to make a it different and interesting.

Here are TJ’s fav from his session to use for mysace etc. Be sure and tell everyone who is the best photographer ever

This morning we met at an eatly 9am to get TJ’s senior pictures. We met at the courthouse in downtown Hillsboro and found all these cool spots nearby. TJ had a great variety of ourfits and the perfect shoes to match each one.

Because our style is so free spirited, I often struggle with what we have to offer our clients for wall display. Some of the coolest images we get are not necessarily what you would have framed and hang on the wall. We urge our clients to let us help them put together a wall display that will tell a story with a variety of images. These turn out amazing! We also have another option that we are making available as well. It is so fun to put a story together with a story board (it means you only have to find one frame). This is a sample I put together and it works so well with lifestyle images. Just think about having a storyboard of you kids with a “bath time” theme or “cooking with grandma”. The possibilities are endless!

We asked Taylor to be a model for our new lifestyle senior shoots. We want to incorporate as much personality as possible into each lifestyle shoot! Usually the lifestyle sessions will take place at your home or at a sentimental location that defines you. We will brainstorm and think of some fun ideas at are unique and have clothing changes and the whole bit! Click the link below this pic to see the other 26 images!
