Missy Cochran Oregon Photographer bio picture

This is Me

Hi there! I am Missy Cochran and I love photography, I fact, you could say that I am obsessive. It all started when I got married and had my wonderfully awesome grandpa take my pictures. He was a professional photographer and I thought all photographers were the same. After the wedding, I got the pictures back and they were all very traditional. Not grandpa’s fault, but mine for not knowing what I wanted. Anyway, I realized too late that I had actually wanted something different than what I got. Since my wedding is all over, I now get to live vicariously through my awesome couples. Other stuff about me is that I make a goal every three months to run regularly, but haven’t yet quite found my mojo. I think I like the idea of being a runner but maybe I am not really one at heart! I love sweets and I love my church and doing things that add joy to my life.

Kyle and Christina Engagement Photography

You guessed it, they met at OSU and they are both alumni!  This is my other Corvallis engagement session and I have some film images from both Corvallis sessions to be posted once they are developed :) :) :)   My first attempt at medium format last weekend!  Okay, back to Kyle and Christina.  Aren’t they super cute?  And they pulled off the action portion of the session so well.  They met through a mutual friend who didn’t want to set them up because she didn’t think that Kyle was Christina’s type.  I guess you just never know!

These ducks were evil.  Although they waddled away from Christina and Kyle, they came hissing toward me because they wanted to eat my reflector.  Yikes!  Luckily Kyle saved the day by clapping his hands which shared them off.  During the rest of the time we spent by the river, they were trying to sneak up on me when my back was turned.

Wyatt and Tracy E Session

Meet Tracy.  Tracy was my second photographer for a few weddings that Mel couldn’t help me with last year.  She graduated from OSU with a major in photography so of course I was honored that she wanted me to take her wedding pictures.  Tracy meets Wyatt.  All the girls loved him so much that Tracy wasn’t sure she wanted to, but how could she not.  He won her heart and it is very clear to me that she is totally smitten.  We took these all around the outskirts of Corvallis, Oregon.  Spring is beautiful in Corvallis.

John Mark and Kelsey Engagement Session

I had the privilege of taking pictures of Kelsey and John in downtown Portland last weekend.  The weather was amazing and we received encouragement from onlookers.  On woman coaxed, “Kiss her like you mean it!”  John did!  He was more than happy to kiss Kelsey over and over the entire session.  I think kissing was their favorite thing to do and they do it well, I must say!

Mike and Becca

I just have to share these.  Mel took them while she was in Utah of Mike (our brother) and his fiance, Becca. Mel said they just wandered around for about 4 hours and stopped anywhere that looked interesting. Isn’t that cool? Mel took control of what they wore and everything. It’s a very Artisan style photoshoot.

Brett and Jen Engaged!

Everyone, meet Brett (some of you may already know him).  He is my bother-in-law and he’s getting married.  Those of you who already know Brett, meet Jen (some of you may know her too).  They are uber cute together as you can see from the pics.  We had a great time driving around hillsboro and as you can see, I was on a field kick.  It was totally fun, they didn’t need very much direction, they just let the flirting flow!  I posted a ton of pics, so click the link at the bottom of this entry to see the rest.  Enjoy

Mike and Amy Sneak Peek

If there is anyone out there that I would consider to be Artisan Photographics biggest fan, I think it might be Amy.  She has sent me encouraging words in every email and even sent a Christmas card.  It makes me feel so special and so I am excited for the change to give Mike and Amy what they have given me.  These pictures convey their love and carry a lot of sentimental value.  Enjoy!

Curtis and Kristen Sneak Peek

Last week’s fabulous engagement session.  I was so excited that Kristen and Curtis were such great sports!  We tried things that I have never done before.  For example, some of the images from this session were taken from inside their apartment in downtown Portland!  I love the cuddly couch pics!  We wandered all around Portland and whenever we saw something interesting we stopped to take some pictures.  It was very free spirited and spontaneous!  I just loved it, I love that we went places I haven’t been for pics downtown and tried some indoor things as well!

I was excited to do some fun whirly pop pics in an engagement session.  Once we were done with the pics, we didn’t quite know what to do with it.  It fell out of the camera bag partway through the session.  Thank goodness this wasn’t my precious 50mm lens!

Handoyo and Ervelyn Sneek Peak

These are just a few of my favs from last night’s engagement session with Handoyo and Ervelyn.  We met up at 6 and got a ton of variety in the down twon Pearl District.  After a few hours, we took a break and my assistant and I were treated to dinner at Henry’s Tavern!  It was delicious!  (Thanks again!)  We hopped on the max to go to the waterfront for a few more night pictures and called it a night.  Also this first images has the coolest wall backgroud we discovered while exploring!

Ian and Kelsey’s Love Story

Ian and Kelsey are one of our wedding couples for this year and we have videographer friends who wanted to try some new things.  We invited them to take video of our engagement session and they put a love story together for the couple.  I turned out really cute, check it out!
