Missy Cochran Oregon Photographer bio picture

This is Me

Hi there! I am Missy Cochran and I love photography, I fact, you could say that I am obsessive. It all started when I got married and had my wonderfully awesome grandpa take my pictures. He was a professional photographer and I thought all photographers were the same. After the wedding, I got the pictures back and they were all very traditional. Not grandpa’s fault, but mine for not knowing what I wanted. Anyway, I realized too late that I had actually wanted something different than what I got. Since my wedding is all over, I now get to live vicariously through my awesome couples. Other stuff about me is that I make a goal every three months to run regularly, but haven’t yet quite found my mojo. I think I like the idea of being a runner but maybe I am not really one at heart! I love sweets and I love my church and doing things that add joy to my life.

Curtis and Kristen Teaser

Jest a few that jumped out at me.  I was in love with Kristen’s hairpiece as you can see from these three pictures :)   The rest of the wedding and story is yet to come…

Dustin and Jessica Sneak peek

Here are two pics from the wedding we had Saturday.  It is the same couple from the tea ceremony as well.  Mel has been very anxious to see the pics and details from this wedding.  I have a long way to go to get them ready because we shot 4600 pictures which I need to narrow down to a reasonable amount!  These two jump out at me. I love the cityscape because it’s different than anything we have gotten to do before.

Jessica and Dustin’s Tea Ceremony

I found out that Jessica was having her tea ceremony when she was giving me a sneak peek of her wedding dress and I saw her gorgeous red tea ceremony dress.  Having never taken pictures for a tea ceremony before, I asked if I could come and take some pics for her (and so I could have some for my website).  I am really excited about how these turned out.  I LOVE the colors so much!  Thanks, Jessica, for letting me crash your party!

Okay, so here is where the fun begins!  Chinese tradition says that the bride to be has to hide while the groom tries to gain admittance to the room.

The bridal party is asking Dustin questions to see how well he knows the bride.  If he gets the question wrong, he has to eat crackers with hot wasabi sause!

Jessica waits in the bathroom, she can hear everything that is going on in the main room.

Finally Dustin is promised admittance if he will pay enough money.  “How much is your bride worth?”  They all ask.  Dustin claims he has a quarter in his pocket.  The women drive a hard bargain and finally Dustin pays $99 for admittance into the room.

During the ceremony, Dustin and Jessica serve tea to those whom they wish to show special respect.  They receive gifts in return.  Those being serve tea give words of encouragement to the couple and bless their union.
