Missy Cochran Oregon Photographer bio picture

This is Me

Hi there! I am Missy Cochran and I love photography, I fact, you could say that I am obsessive. It all started when I got married and had my wonderfully awesome grandpa take my pictures. He was a professional photographer and I thought all photographers were the same. After the wedding, I got the pictures back and they were all very traditional. Not grandpa’s fault, but mine for not knowing what I wanted. Anyway, I realized too late that I had actually wanted something different than what I got. Since my wedding is all over, I now get to live vicariously through my awesome couples. Other stuff about me is that I make a goal every three months to run regularly, but haven’t yet quite found my mojo. I think I like the idea of being a runner but maybe I am not really one at heart! I love sweets and I love my church and doing things that add joy to my life.

Gracie and Patrick

Yesterday I got to meet Gracie, Patrick, and Teresa (mom).  Teresa is a cousin of Rebecca, my assistant.  It was really neat to be able to try a few new things since the shoot was for the purpose of building my portfolio.  We didn’t push very hard to get the standard images with the kids looking at the camera, but we focussed more on the letting the kids do what they wanted and took pictures.  It was really fun!

My Favorite Subject

This is Jessy again.  I love having a gorgeous lil sis who is willing to model for me.  I love this image of her and unfortunately she doesn’t like it of herself.  I had to strike a deal to get her to let me post it.  She is staying up a little past her betime to get to watch the “Welcome Back” episode of the office.  We are so happy that the writing stike is over!!

Hollywood Lighting

I have a photographer friend who has a really sweet old studio.  His lighting dates back to the 1940s and I have been studying how to use them to get a hollywood look.  Here are a few images I got at my last photoshoot there.  They turned out awesome!  I have access to this studio for all my HS seniors so let me know if you want this look.

Beca’s Cats

My friend, Beca, has two cats, Turbo and Krush.  I went to her house today and took some pictures for her of the cats.  I must say that it was more difficult than photographing a cranky toddler.  Not really, but seriously, cats don’t pose for anyone!  Not even their parents.  Here are some of Beca’s favs…

Riley – Little Man on Campus

Riley was such a great sport for his photo shoot today!  I was shocked at how great he was in every situation.  Maybe part of it is due to the fact that I started heating the house about an hour before Riley came with his parents :)   But the house has been warmed for others and never have I seen a baby this cooperative.  I LOVE his little overalls with no shirt.  The red seams match with the red pillows and created a very striking combination.  In the first pick, you can see dad’s hand and boy does that little guy look tiny in comparison!

More Wah and Tina

Here are a few more images from Wah and Tina’s session.  I didn’t want to put these on before because they hadn’t seen their pictures yet.  Since they have seen them, you may see them.  I LOVED the brick wall especially.  I think Tina looks like a model in the one where she is looking at the camera and Wah is looking at her (how could he stop himself?  She is gorgeous!)
