Missy Cochran Oregon Photographer bio picture

This is Me

Hi there! I am Missy Cochran and I love photography, I fact, you could say that I am obsessive. It all started when I got married and had my wonderfully awesome grandpa take my pictures. He was a professional photographer and I thought all photographers were the same. After the wedding, I got the pictures back and they were all very traditional. Not grandpa’s fault, but mine for not knowing what I wanted. Anyway, I realized too late that I had actually wanted something different than what I got. Since my wedding is all over, I now get to live vicariously through my awesome couples. Other stuff about me is that I make a goal every three months to run regularly, but haven’t yet quite found my mojo. I think I like the idea of being a runner but maybe I am not really one at heart! I love sweets and I love my church and doing things that add joy to my life.

Welcome to my photography website!  I am based in Portland, Oregon and excited to hear from anyone wanting more information about the portrait and wedding services I offer.  My portfolio will show you my favorite images from each type of session and the categories menu will show you my most recent work for each category.  When I post images to the blog, there is usually a link included to see the rest of the images in their client gallery.  If you want to see what is included in an entire session, you can view the client galleries through the blog post link.  There aren’t any passwords required unless they are requested.  This page will tell you about this website and about me, Missy Cochran – Photographer.  The site is dedicated to my wedding and portrait photography.  Although I am located in Portland, I am willing to travel to almost any location for a wedding or portrait session and it’s one of my dreams to photograph a destination wedding in Hawaii.  Alllooohaaa

What is a Blog?  Although many of you are hip to the online world, I still meet people who wonder what a blog is.  When I told one of my aunts about my blog, her response was, “Eww, ‘blog’ is an ugly word.”  That made me laugh because she is right, it is kind of an ugly word.  The word ‘blog’ is an abbreviation for ‘weblog’ which is a lot nicer.  You may wonder what it is that one would do with a weblog.  Think of it like an online diary.  If I sit down at my computer and write some of my thoughts and add a few pictures and hit the publish button, it will make a new post to my blog.  When you subscribe to the blog by email, you will get an email whenever I make a new post.  This is an awesome way to stay up to date with all my current photography sessions and things that are going on with me.  My blog features my latest photo sessions, and tidbits about my life all put chronologically together newest to oldest.  If you like what you see, add me to your subscriptions to get the latest updates to the blog.

About my photography  As a photographer, I take pictures of babies, children, families, high school seniors, and weddings.  My style is artistic and expressive.  Even my portrait sessions tell a story.  Maternity photography might include a toddler kissing mommy’s baby belly.  Baby photography would have sweet baby outfits and mommy and daddy and baby holding each other and smiling at each other.  Children’s photography might include running around, bubbles, fields, balloons, lollipops and everything that defines childhood (but not all in one session, whew!).  Senior portraits would reflect who the senior is and their interests.  I love using meaningful elements that the senior brings like a skateboard or pets.  Some fun locations are downtown Portland, the Oregon coast, or even your backyard.  I usually travel for every photo session so lets get creative!  Because every photograph I take is pieces of a story, my portrait sessions include a set of 5×7 proofs.  The biggest complaint I get from people is that there are too many good ones to choose from so these days, I give you all of them!  This is so cool because you can put them in a collage frame or individual frames or just put them in a keepsake box for safe storage or scrapbook them.  Large prints, photo albums, and even a disc of the printable images are also available to order.
